Convergence of spherical averages for actions of free groups
Let (X, ν) be a probability space and suppose a free group Fm withm generators acts on (X, ν) by measure-preserving transformations. Let {a1, . . . , am} be a set of free generators for Fm and let T1, . . . , Tm : X → X be transformations corresponding to the generators. Write T−i = T −1 i for i = 1, . . . ,m, and set A = {−m, . . . ,−1, 1, . . . ,m}. We also have the action Fm on L1(X, ν), def...
متن کاملFine Computable Functions and Effective Fine Convergence
In this article, we discuss the Fine computability and the effective Fine convergence for functions on [0, 1) with respect to the Fine metric as the beginning of the effective Walsh-Fourier analysis. First we treat classically the Fine continuity and the Fine convergence. Next, we prove that Fine computability does not depend on the choice of an effective separating set. Subsequently, we propos...
متن کاملCombination of convergence groups
We state and prove a combination theorem for relatively hyperbolic groups seen as geometrically finite convergence groups. For that, we explain how to contruct a boundary for a group that is an acylindrical amalgamation of relatively hyperbolic groups over a fully quasi-convex subgroup. We apply our result to Sela’s theory on limit groups and prove their relative hyperbolicity. We also get a pr...
متن کاملComplexity of Unification in Free Groups and Free Semi-groups
The exponent of periodicity is an important factor in estimates of complexity of word-unification algorithms. We prove that the exponent of periodicity of a minimal solution of a word equation is at most 2, where n is the length of the equation. Since the best known lower bound is 2 our upper bound is almost optimal and exponentially better than the original bound (6n) 2n4 + 2. Thus our result ...
متن کاملFree Groups in Lattices
Let G be any locally compact metrizable group. The main result of this paper, roughly stated, is that if F < G is any finitely generated free group and Γ < G any lattice, then up to a small perturbation and passing to a finite index subgroup, F is a subgroup of Γ. If G/Γ is noncompact then we require additional hypotheses that include G = SO(n, 1). MSC: 20E07, 20F65, 20F67, 22D40, 20E05.
